OUR STORY

It Started With a Conversation.

Two sisters-in-law. Two corporate careers. One shared frustration — finding ethnic wear that looked beautiful and actually felt right for real life. Amaelia is what happened when Harshita and Renuka stopped searching and started making.

HOW IT BEGAN

From Boardrooms to Pattern Tables

Harshita and Renuka met as sisters-in-law and bonded over something unexpected — a quiet dissatisfaction with ethnic wear. Both spent years in corporate roles, dressing for meetings and dinners and everything in between. They wanted pieces that didn’t force a choice between looking considered and actually being comfortable.

What started as a conversation over chai became a sketchbook, then a first sample, then a small collection shared with friends who kept asking for more. Amaelia was never a business plan — it grew from a stubborn belief that hand-finished ethnic wear shouldn’t only exist in your grandmother’s wardrobe.

Hand-Finished, Always

Zari, zardozi and cut-dana work, finished by hand, piece by piece — not machine-replicated.

Designed In-House

Every silhouette and print starts on our table, not someone else’s factory floor.

Made to Move

Cut for real days, not just photographs — so ease doesn’t stop at the hemline.

THE PROCESS

The Hands Behind the Hem

Zardozi. Cut dana. Zari. Mirror work. These aren’t finishing touches — they’re the reason a piece takes days, not minutes, to make. Every embellishment on an Amaelia piece is placed by hand, checked by hand, and shipped only once it’s right.
